Welcome to New Mexico...

We drove up to Santa Fe from Albuquerque...and enjoyed all the Adobe (Mud-wall) architecture that the city is famous for

Bound to get ya wired!!

Nicole & Jus enjoying the Santa Fe sunset

And north again to Taos...a quaint ex-hippy hangout with more adobe and other alternative architecture

And on to the "Earthships" as we drove west towards Arizona and the Grand Canyon..

This is the visitor centre where you take a self guided tour of this sustainable housing model.

The walls of the homes are packed with bottles, cans and old car tires!

There are beautiful mosaics made from the bottles - often with light shining through

Plants inside add to air quality and help with filtering grey water for further use

My niece and her husband have built a home with straw bales and adobe on the outside and they also use the bottles for art and light (along with some windows). It's beautiful! Stef
