Hi everyone, Nicole here. We're now in Eastern Michigan, and hope tomorrow to cross into Ontario Canada. When we left Grand Rapids we rode out in the rain, with Steph waving goodbye in the driveway pumping us up with "it's an adventure! Go have fun!". Thanks Steph, it helped.
Late afternoon, we found a hotel not too expensive, that had a hot tub and decided to stop for the day. We were VERY GLAD we did, when a big storm came through an hour later with incredibly strong winds and rain, and general nastiness. Nice to look at from the hot tub! :)
Tuesday and Wednesday have had just a few showers, but mostly just heavy grey skies, and the temperature has plummeted. I immediately bought gloves and a beany - much better. It's such a change from the sunscreen needs of a week ago! Today (Thursday) it's still cold, but the sun is out - though we're expecting pretty rotten weather for the next 4-5 days, so we'll enjoy this while it's here.
Tonight we'll be at Marine City, Michigan, on the Western bank of the St Clair river, which separates us from Canada. Tomorrow morning we hope to cross on the ferry, and begin a week of riding in Canada. We hear this part of Ontario is farm land, lakes, and best seen in summer time, so if the weather is as yuck as expected, we'll cycle on through to Niagra Falls and hope for some nice weather to enjoy that.
We do think of you all as we cycle, so you are not forgotten!

One thing I remember from our trips to Canada is something called Poutine (I'm not sure how to spell it). It's French Fries with gravy or cheese or both on them. They're delicious, and since you're burning so many calories every day, you could eat some for me! Enjoy a new country! I think this decision is a fun one! More power to you! ~ Stef
